Amaravati, the People's capital of Andhra Pradesh, is envisioned to be a city of world-class standards with a vision of increasing Andhra Pradesh's prominence in the world. The capital area spread across 16.9 sq. km with area span of 8050.31 ha for Residential, 5558.61 ha for Commercial & Industrial and 1654.13 ha for water bodies. The open and green spaces to cover over 40% of the capital area, No doubt this could be made the Solar capital of India similar to the Freiburg, Germany's Solar City. The Capital city will have both underground cable and over-head electricity lines for power supply to government and private buildings. For which REC has promised loan amount of INR 60,000 Millions to construct transmission and sub-transmission power infra in the capital. APTransco has estimated that the capital city would require 1,500 MW power by the end of 2018. This is where the Decentralized Solar power need to play its holistic approach to transform India's youngest and new city into the dream city.
The government has already paved way with future Commitment of INR 350 Millions by M/s. Suzlon Energy Ltd. towards establishment of University of Renewable Energy at Amaravati. MOUs inked withSoft Bank for Development of 2000 MW Solar & 1000 MW of Wind Power Projects and MOU with M/s. Acciona Energy, Spain for establishing 200 MW of Wind Power Project. The near future would also witness more of similar Investments.
Amaravati has the full fledged potential and being developing from the scratch if professionally utilized; obviously this could be the Solar City of India similar to Freiburg in Germany giving a world class appeal.
